The purpose of this project was to develop an understanding of the vision and needs of the user groups of the Springs Preserve playground — children and parents. Through a series of lectures and a public workshop, the UNLV DDC created the Springs Preserve Playground PLAY Research and Workshop report. The workshop consisted of a three part process with the participating children, and a two part process for the parents. Data collected through the workshop was then analyzed to inform further areas of research, establish a series of design principles specific for the playground, and serve as a basis of information for student-based design proposals for the playground.
